Course Description:
This course develops functional use of Japanese language for various types of situations and events that occur in the daily business environment. The types of situations include formal introductions, basic business rules, business etiquette, honorifics, and how to write business documents and email. It also presents and expands on cultural perspectives and concepts as they impact the business world. Taught in Japanese.

Reflective Narrative:
As someone who will be working in Japan in the future, this course was especially useful as it taught proper Japanese business manner rules and etiquette. JAPN 303 covered everything from business attire, proper degree of bowing, and the differences in how you would behave in front of a sempai and a kouhai. This course fulfilled MLO 1 because we were also taught how to implement what we learned through assignments such as writing a business letter (link) or creating a Japanese resume (doc). For each chapter in our textbook, we also had a list of kanji words to study that we would be tested on at the end (doc). Everything we studied was relevant to Japanese business and will surely be useful to me when I begin working in Japan. Below is our final group video project where we combined everything we learned in the semester:
