Reflective Narrative:
3.1 SPAN 308: HIST/CULTR AZTLAN:SW US fulfilled MLO 3 because it taught different aspects of hispanic culture. These time periods covered everything from Aztecs to the more contemporary "zoot suit" culture. Being Mexican-American, this class was especially helpful as I learned a lot of my own culture and the origin of California. Before taking this course, I had not known that California used to be owned by Mexico before the United States purchased it. Knowing this now, I have come to appreciate California's diversity much more.
3.2 Through weekly readings and online forum discussions, we would go over different time periods in Hispanic culture. Many of these online forum discussions entailed setting up a question, and facilitating a discussion through the comments section of that forum. We were also assigned a paper concerning the Manifest Destiny (link) and how it related to the United States and Mexico.
